What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Costa Rica wholesaler offering private villas and customized travel vacations (hotels, tours, etc.). If you're looking for a fantastic vacation destination in Costa Rica, I can help you find the right hotel and create a dream vacation for you.
Tell us about yourself
I've been booking Costa Rica for over 20 years. I started working for a villa owner who decided to live in his home full time. I loved making people happy by putting a fabulous trip together for them, so I ventured out on my own. I created my website, contacted villa owners, and slowly added to my inventory with not just villas but hotels too. There's nothing better than having a family come back from their trip raving about the good time they had.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
That I did it on my own; even when times got hard, I never gave up. This company will always be part of me. It's my baby. I created it from inception and have watched it grow over the years.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Competing with larger companies like VRBO, Airbnb, etc. These companies have the funds to advertise, and the little man gets cut out.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't get discouraged.
- Be sure to have patience not only with businesses but with your customers.
- Don't give up.
