Tell us about yourself
I started my first company over 22 years ago when I was still in school. And I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. At that time, I didn't know why, but I never ever wanted to work for somebody else because I had this massive drive within me that I wanted to create something on my own. I see something growing and that I can be responsible for building something. And this was actually the first thing why I wanted to become an entrepreneur and why I started my first company; in the meantime, the other five companies I started were out of: I saw potential. I saw a problem. I wanted to solve the problem. I wanted to help these people or these companies. And I set up a new company to execute this, and I solved the problem, and I can help other people. So what motivates me is growth and success, not also in business or financially, but in life. So I love to see things growing; I love to see change happening. I love to see that I can develop my personality, business, financial life, and surroundings.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner in the past 22 years was that I don't give up. I was able to find six different companies on two different continents, and I had a lot of obstacles and a lot of problems and challenges in my past, but I never ever gave up. And this brought to my position that I sustained all of my companies, and I was able to create my business growth or success.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Discipline and routines. Because you are responsible for everything you can imagine on your own. So what we see in our coaching programs with solopreneurs is especially most consultants, coaches, and trainers come from a corporate world, and they are familiar that there is a whole team for marketing and accounting and sales and fulfillment and stuff like that. And now, as a business owner, you don't have a team around you when you start, and you are responsible for every single step on your own. And you need to learn these routines and this discipline so that you really stay focused and have enough guarantee to become successful.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
That's a great question. You need clarity and focus. Get a coach or a mentor who has a lot of experience and can guide you through the process so that you don't have to make all the mistakes on your own. And the third thing is never ever to give up. That's it.
