What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an outpatient, independently-owned physical therapy business. Our customers are people who need rehabilitation from injury or surgery, chronic pain issues, postural dysfunction, trouble with functional difficulties, or relief from acute pain.

Tell us about yourself

I entered the field of physical therapy because I am compassionate for people in pain and who are having trouble functioning physically in their daily lives. I am motivated by the success of my patients. It is such a reward that after physical therapy, patients better understand their condition and how to operate their bodies in the most efficient way. They learn tools to help themselves.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is passing on knowledge and skills to the next generation of physical therapists in West Des Moines, Iowa. This is a big impact on the health of our community.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is the management of people. I love our family of employees and staff. It's difficult not to get drawn into their drama when life happens. This ultimately affects productivity as well.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Have ultimate respect and value for your team members and customers. Pay well. Be honest and ethical always.
