Improving the Quality of Life - Confident Communicators

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Carrie Rosler, Owner of Confident Communicators, located in Burlington, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the owner of a private speech therapy practice in Burlington. Confident Communicators provides high-quality services to toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children in Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, Waterdown, Milton, and surrounding areas. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for children of all ages with speech, language, and communication difficulties.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years of clinical experience in pediatrics, working with children and youth with various communication delays or disorders.

I started my private practice five years ago as I wanted to make a difference in a child's life and connect with each client and family to provide the best service possible without any restrictions or long waiting lists.

My clients motivate me every single day. I love that I can make an impact on a child's life. "I knew early that helping children acquire the gift of communication was my passion and one of my strongest skills."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think my biggest accomplishment was successfully starting up a business that has grown and allowed me the ability to hire team members who share the same core values and guiding principles in the industry.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a mom and an entrepreneur and managing work-life balance.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Self-care and spending time with friends and family are essential so that you do not burn out and can have more energy to devote to your business.
  2. Find what you are passionate about, write a business plan, and if you genuinely love what you do, people will see that, and you will be successful.
  3. Don't wait to be "ready" or be afraid to ask for "help." Surround yourself with like-minded people who motivate you, inspire you and talk to and learn from them.
