Own Your Future - Complete Player Pathway
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christian DeVries, Founder of Complete Player Pathway, located in Peoria, AZ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business, Complete Player Pathway, provides an engaging and comprehensive player pathway for high school soccer players who desire to play at the next level after graduation. Our customers are those looking to improve their skills, mindset, and understanding of the recruiting process. Whether they're just starting as a freshman or a senior competing in their last year in high school, we have created a custom-made system that allows them to access resources and tutorials at their own pace. Our Complete Player Pathway is backed by over 75 years of experience in college athletics and ensures that our customers are ready for challenges ahead and can develop to the highest level possible.
Tell us about yourself
I have been a college soccer coach for 27 years and have gained invaluable experience in the process. I have seen players of every caliber come through my program, from beginners to those who aspire to play at the highest levels. I take pride in working with my players on the fundamentals of the game and helping them reach their full potential. My approach focuses on personal development and playing for significance so that each player can become successful on and off the field. I can provide tailored programs that address specific needs and wants through my Complete Player Pathway initiative. This allows me to instill lifelong skills that benefit my players' futures beyond soccer.
I started Complete Player Pathway because I was frustrated with the misinformation about the recruiting process. I wanted to create something comprehensive and accessible for all players regardless of experience so that they can make informed decisions about their future and find their proper pathway to their next level.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a college soccer coach is changing my mindset from success-focused to significance-oriented. This change has profoundly impacted my approach to coaching, business, and life. Instead of striving for victory or selling dreams, my priority is to develop meaningful relationships with players and provide them with the tools and resources necessary for long-term success. By looking beyond the wins and losses, I can focus on creating an environment that fosters growth and development. My players and clients have seen significant improvements in everything from skills acquisition to team dynamics, proving this philosophy's effectiveness.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is trusting yourself and not getting caught up in "shiny object syndrome." As entrepreneurs, jumping at every new opportunity or idea can be tempting, even if it isn't the best use of time and resources. However, it is essential to focus on what will lead to the most success in the long term and trust your judgment about when something is worth investing in. It takes self-discipline, focus, and dedication to stay on track amid all day-to-day business ownership distractions.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Starting and running a business is no easy feat, and there are many things to consider before taking the plunge. Here are my top 3 tips for anyone looking to start, run, and grow a business:
