What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Colour Envy Painting, we provide premium residential and commercial interior and exterior painting to our amazing customers. Our customers are homeowners, business owners, and property managers here in Edmonton that are looking to transform their spaces. We work with every one of our customers to provide them with painting solutions that meet their needs and align with their colour palette.
Tell us about yourself
I originally started my career in the restaurant industry. However, when I discovered it wasn't for me, I began looking for a career elsewhere. I stumbled into the painting industry by chance and found passion in it right away. At the end of the day, my main motivation is helping people bring their vision to life. I love helping people to change and brighten their spaces.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Staying in business. I know it sounds simple, but in this highly competitive industry, it is a big accomplishment. To me, staying in business means that I get to continue pursuing my passion and brightening people's homes and businesses one wall at a time.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I'm sure this answer comes as no surprise: the pandemic. Being in the painting industry means that in order to provide our services to our customers, we have to be in their homes and businesses. During the pandemic, this wasn't even possible. It was a huge challenge for Colour Envy Painting, but with perseverance, support from our team, and a dedication to painting, we made it through to the other side.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research about your industry, your customers, and your products and services themselves. Never stop learning.
- Make sure you're motivated to enter your specific industry. There has to be a strong desire to do what you do and succeed in it.
- Be creative. Especially in competitive industries, without creativity, you won't be able to stand out and succeed.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
