Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Yesica Reina, owner of Colados Coffee and Crepes, located in Avondale, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are day makers. That’s our mission. We serve coffee and crepes, but our goal is to create a unique experience while you’re at it.

Tell us about yourself

Back in 2013, our family went on a trip to Paris, France. While we were there, we had our first-ever crepe. Two weeks later, both my husband and I got laid off from our job after working there for 20 years. That was the push we needed to share the taste of crepes in our community.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to do it as a family. We close on Sundays, and I believe that plays a key factor in our culture.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is adapting to change. We’ve had to make many adjustments during the pandemic and introduce new methods.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take it slow - enjoy every season of your business. The busy times, the chaos, and the uncertain times are all part of growth.
  2. Take care of your team - we’re nothing without them, Literally!
  3. Innovate - you can always get better.
