What's your business and who are your customers?

I am a self-care and wellness coach for students and young professionals who are trying to develop a self-care routine during a major change in their lives, whether that be starting school, starting a new career, etc.

Tell us about yourself

I have been in the wellness industry for about five years and have been coaching for almost two.

After I received my formal Certified Health and Wellness Coach certification I thought about branching out from my full time role and working with my ideal clients.

I love working with students and young professionals because it's such a time of opportunity. The slate is really clean for them to take charge of their wellness and set a foundation for the rest of their lives.

I also have personal experience in this area - I struggled to develop a self-care routine for myself in college and after college. I love the idea of being a support system for people in that situation now.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating my first program! It was a true labor of love, and I'm really proud of it.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Getting started. I was posting at random, with no niche, and was getting nowhere.

It took a lot of courage for me to hire a business and mindset coach to help me along, but it truly helped me stop spinning my wheels.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Ask for help! While this is your business, there are people out there who are willing to help. I'm (not surprisingly) a huge advocate for coaching as you start out.

2. Don't be afraid to really put yourself out there on socials. When I got started I was afraid what my friends and family would think as I shared a lot on my posts. But your audience wants you to be vulnerable and human.

3. Find your niche as soon as possible. Once I got clear on who I really wanted to serve, it made creating content so much easier.

If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?

Get my name out there! I still have a relatively small audience and I would love more opportunities like this to talk to new people about what I do.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?

1. Schedule breaks on my calendar, and schedule working hours. I make it a priority to have down time in the evenings.

2. Put my phone on do not disturb mode at night - no frantic 2 am phone checks!

3. I have a list of goals for the week, including a section on "Things to Take Care of Me." Checking those off my list is just as high a priority as checking off my business goals.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and why?

I have to give a huge shoutout to my business coach, Lindsey Samson, here! She has been instrumental in showing me a one woman coaching business can be incredibly successful.

I also love Denise Duffield-Thomas and Amanda Frances for resources on changing money mindset for entrepreneurs.
