Mindset Engineering - Coach4Balance
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lars Bodenheimer, Founder of Coach4Balance, located in Leesburg, VA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I coach busy professionals and parents so they can maintain a sense of peace and purpose and escape the burnout trap. I show them the power of putting themselves first so they can start owning their life circumstances instead of being owned by them. Together, we shift their life-long mental-emotional programming so they can break free from their own limitations and enjoy the life they want and deserve.
Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in Germany. My parents had a bicycle business and an energy healing practice. When my healthy father died before he turned 66, I realized that life is short and most people don't make the best of it even if they could. After 20 years of management consulting and executive leadership in corporate America, I decided to follow my parents' health and wellness path. Raising my own family while climbing the career ladder taught me how critical it is to focus on my own well-being. How can you be the best version of yourself at home and at work when you put yourself last? I was able to learn and receive training in how our mindset relates to our past, present, and future experiences. Traditional personal development practices are missing something. They use methods that train new knowledge and tools but fail to include the subconscious mind, which controls 95% of our daily thoughts and actions. I learned that by working with this powerful part of our minds, we could let go of limiting and self-sabotaging parts of ourselves and instead connect it with what we want to create and experience in all areas of our lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I came to a point where I realized that not just the training and certifications for my new professional path but my previous career, my own life experiences, and of course, my work with clients led me to my own unique and most authentic approach to serving others.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
To endure and embrace the trials and errors in pretty much all areas of the business and consider this roller coaster as a natural part of the journey, which in itself is a tremendous personal growth opportunity.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you are risk-averse, have lots of family and financial obligations, or are very detail-oriented, don't quit your full-time job but rather reduce your working hours so you can start your business on the side.
- Build a financial cushion for the business ramp-up. Being too worried about finances can be a huge mental block and creative barrier.
- Work on your inner self right from the beginning. Get limiting thoughts and beliefs out of your system. Look into Energy Psychology and modalities like PSYCH-K to do this - that's what I use with my clients.
