What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a toy store that focuses on play. We only want to have toys with great play value; while our focus is on the kids, we know our customers are the grownups in their lives, so we also want to make sure they know that the toys they are buying will bring joy their lives as well.

Tell us about yourself

I graduated from college fulling, expecting to teach children in elementary school. Well, life took a different turn, and now I sell toys. I love being a mom, a wife, and an entrepreneur.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As with most small businesses, surviving a global pandemic with forced closures. What I'm most proud of throughout the whole process is keeping all of my staff members and paying them as well.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, it's hiring. I don't want just another staff member; I want someone who likes where they work and is motivated to help the business grow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you require a physical location, find a lease broker or other advocate to work with you.
  2. Invest in your people. They are who will help your dream come true.
  3. Take care of yourself.
