Synchronized Nutrition and Training - Clint Cupido
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Clint Cupido, owner of Synchronized Nutrition and Training, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a boutique fitness studio in downtown Edmonton. My clients are people looking to get the most out of life, individuals looking to move better so they can keep up with their kids, eat better to improve their health, or shed off some unwanted pounds. Being a boutique studio, we build long-lasting relationships that often go beyond the studio!
Tell us about yourself
I am originally from South Africa and have been in the fitness industry for 20 years. I've worked in a lot of different areas in this industry, from big box gyms, cruise ships, and smaller studios to now owning my own facility. For the most part, I'm a very self-motivated person and love the challenges each day brings. I set goals each day and strive to complete them; sometimes they get, and sometimes they don't, but it definitely gives me a reason to get out of bed each day and try.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is walking each and every day into my own space and seeing the team that works alongside the clients that come in every day and me. I always wanted to create a non-intimidating, friendly space where people would feel comfortable and love being here.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
That I have to wear all the hats! Not only am I a trainer but also a janitor, accountant, salesman, etc. It's never a boring day at work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a thick skin!
- Study everything you need to know about your industry and business.
- Never get too comfortable, things can change on a dime, and you better be ready.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I love the fitness industry; I can see the change in people's lives and the positive influences we have on them.
