What's your business, and who are your customers?
I develop and publish online courses. Our customers are a adult-learners that are looking into a new career or acquiring personal development skills.
Tell us about yourself
I started teaching back in the eighties, then started with online courses for the Insurance Industry in 2009. Since then, I have consulted with firms on curriculum development, training design, and online publishing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I was able to keep the business simple and profitable. I can manage my role and responsibilities as a father and a husband, all the while managing and growing a digital education business.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The most difficult part is to pace me. It is so easy to get excited about a project and set everything else aside. A successful person and business owner must not forget what really matters in life. You cannot take money with you, and family is the only legacy that matters.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Turn the TV off!
- Remove all distractions, like games and other things that don't matter from your work area.
- Set a reasonable work schedule and stick to it, yet allows for emergencies.
