Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Vivian Sue-A-Quan, owner of Circus Play Cafe, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are the only indoor kid's play cafe in the city of Vancouver. We have a fantastic indoor play space for 0-5yrs and their parents, with a Cafe on the side. We also host classes, workshops, children's events, and we're an awesome place for parties!

Tell us about yourself

As a mother of three young children, I personally understand the challenges in finding a place that provides both adults and children with a space for meaningful interactions. Circus Play Cafe is a purposefully designed play space where children and their families can connect, learn and grow through the power of play and imagination. My three children motivate me to do what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a small business owner is meeting other like-minded parents of young children. Also, we are able to create a small community for parents of young children to connect and play.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is, of course, to balance my work and my family. The other one is to make sure my business stays strong and alive in our expensive city.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make sure to budget your investment. Pick the right location and understand your customers. Please support local suppliers.
