What's your business, and who are your customers?

Chummy’s Organix is a Chicago-based lifestyle brand specializing in premium health and wellness products and curated experiences that meet the needs of its clientele. Our products offer alternative methods for natural healing and maintaining optimal health.

We offer educational workshops, private/group therapy sessions, and collaborative lifestyle events that feature hand-selected health and wellness professionals within our ecosystem, such as Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Estheticians, and more. We cater to those experiencing pain, inflammation, anxiety, and sleep disorders.

Tell us about yourself

I started my professional career in the Consumer Package and goods industry. I worked as a District Manager for 6.5 years at PepsiCo Frito Lay and another three years as a Market Development Manager for Coca-Cola. I transitioned to a Financial Advisor while simultaneously performing stand-up comedy and traveling.

I still stand up to this day, but I left the financial industry and ventured into the Cannabis Industry as I saw the green rush about to boom and decided this would be a great way to work for myself and create some generational wealth for my family.

After not being awarded an Illinois Cannabis license, I wanted to remain close to the industry because CBD is still a primary emerging market. Still, more importantly, I have a passion for alternative healing methods by utilizing more organic methods outside of prescription drugs. That’s when I decided to pivot into the CBD space, where he launched Chummy’s Organix, a health and wellness brand specializing in hemp-derived CBD products.

My driving force is wanting to create a legacy for my daughter, who will be born in December. It is the first in my family to establish a nationally recognized-family business that will last for generations!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting! Not only starting but continuing to build. I've covered so much ground as to where I'm at right now, and I've bootstrapped every single dollar to where it is right now. This is by far the most challenging task I've ever done in my life, and I'm determined to make this succeed!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Here are several:

  • Seeking funding or lack thereof
  • Doubt
  • Trying to convince people you’re serious
  • Long hours
  • Fear
  • Stress
  • Paperwork, Paperwork… and more paperwork
  • Sacrificing the normal life you were used to

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get Started... take the 1st step.
  2. Don't wait on ANYONE. Keep going even when you don't know what you're doing. Just fall forward
  3. Give yourself a break. It's okay to take a day off and do nothing. Sometimes you need to recalibrate to stir up some genius ideas and strategies you haven't figured out yet.
