Land High-paying Freelance Clients - Christine Gomolka
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Gomolka, Creator of paidcopywriter.com, based in NJ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I provide an online course called 30 Days to Paid that teaches introverted writers how to land higher-paying freelance clients.
Tell us about yourself
So many of us have the dream of writing for a living, being self-employed, and calling the shots in our lives and careers. However, breaking free of the 9-5 grind and making a full-time freelance income means finding higher-quality clients. I created 30 Days to Paid to give copywriters an easier, more effective framework for landing higher-paying clients - without content mills or freelance bidding sites. Freelancing helped me escape a toxic career, and knowing that other people can experience freedom if they take the right steps is what motivates me to keep going in my business!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is invoicing >6 figures of freelance writing work, all without having a boss. Getting to teach aspiring freelance writers how to do the same thing is pretty cool too.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the more difficult parts of being a business owner is the overwhelm of having to figure everything out by yourself. We're used to the school and corporate environment where you can easily access guidance and mentors. As an entrepreneur, you need to proactively seek out and invest in your own professional development and mentorship opportunities.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Develop a habit of consistency. When the honeymoon phase of launching your business fades, habits are what maintain the momentum even when you're not "feeling it."
- Persistence, compound interest, and repetition ultimately lead to success. It's not about being talented, privileged, or special; it's about never giving up. Remember, the people you look up to probably aren't better than you; they've just been doing it longer.
- Bet on yourself. I used to hesitate to invest in the courses and software I needed to run my business because I had a scarcity mindset. I started to believe in myself more and trust that every investment would produce ROI as long as I did my best.
