Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christina Stroh, owner of The Butcher The Baker The Cheese Board Maker, located in Pearland, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a charcuterie company. We build pretty, delicious food. We service Pearland and the surrounding areas, including Houston and Galveston.
Tell us about yourself
I started as a hobby to get some of my creative juices flowing again. Then more and more people asked me to build boards for them. So I went ahead and created a company and decided to jump in legally.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having so many people LOVE what we do. It's such a boost when people rave about something you've created.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Juggling all the balls. It's much more than putting cheese on a plate. It's figuring out what flavors go well together, coming up with new ideas, and trying new products. And THEN it's all the business stuff, accounting, websites, marketing, inventory. And the customer services, processing orders, scheduling deliveries, and answering questions. The fact that entrepreneurism never rests.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take the plunge.
- Don't underestimate the time and money you'll have to invest.
- It's not for everyone. So if you don't succeed, don't be too hard on yourself.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
