CB Services Management - Chris Bredesen
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris Bredesen, Founder of CB Services Management Inc., located in Redondo Beach, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Currently, I am the owner and operator of the following restaurant brands: Captain Kidds Fish Market, Riviera Mexican Grill, Primo Italia, and The Rockefeller Gastropubs (Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach). We also are involved in real estate ownership and property management. Our customers are locals in our community and also travelers worldwide that are visiting our beachside community!
Tell us about yourself
I graduated from USC with a degree in Business and also received my MBA from Pepperdine University. After my education, I went right into opening our first restaurant location in Hermosa Beach, CA. Restaurants have so many moving parts, and I really enjoy the daily challenges that arise. My motivation comes from wanting to offer the best service, atmosphere, and cuisine to our customers day in and day out.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has to be getting through COVID as a business stronger than before COVID started. Being able to pivot and make our systems stronger has allowed us to be more successful today than just a few years ago. Our staff deserves a majority of the credit for all their effort; they are the best in the game.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Never a day off. As a business owner, the buck stops with you. Problems need to be solved, and problems come up daily.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take a job in the industry and learn from mistakes on someone else's dime. When you are investing your own money into a new business, the risks are immense. So work for a few years with someone who can teach you the pitfalls to give yourself a higher chance of success.
- Be organized, especially as you grow your businesses. Organization is the key to success.
- Work with good people that align with your beliefs. People are the most important part of any business; work with good people.
