Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Soriah S, Owner of ChocolisciouslyDelightful, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is all about experiencing the world of chocolate. My customers vary and come from all walks of life, vary in age from 7-89, hold diverse jobs, and basically anyone who has an adoration for chocolate.
Tell us about yourself
My passion for chocolate has been with me since I was a very young child. I am originally from Bulgaria. When I lived there as a young child, my father would take me to these fancy stores called Corecom. I remember him bringing me there so very often to pick out chocolates.
My favourite at that time was the Toblerone. However, my taste in indulgence has certainly grown. In 2016, I finally decided to turn my love for chocolate into something more.
That is where ChocolisciouslyDelightful emerged from. My motivation comes from making people happy, bringing them joy even on days when they are experiencing none.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is what we are currently attempting to do, and that is trying to concoct a chocolate bar that is as tasty as Nutella or Toblerone, for example, but at the same time, as healthy as a smoothie.
Basically, having something that is so very delicious, that is extremely healthy and nutritious also. We have also completed a Zentangle colouring book that entails fun images all about chocolate. That will be available for purchase within a month.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I do not view anything as difficult except perhaps eating too much chocolate. Hard work eventually leads to success. My definition of success is different than other individuals. It is not about making the most money but bringing out the best in people. Making their heart feel a little lighter, taking away their heaviness.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do not hesitate. Go for it.
- Failure is part of the story of success.
- Aim to make people happy, not make yourself rich.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Wake up every day and love what you do. Everything else will eventually follow.
