Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with David Levy, owner of Chocolate Tales, located in Hamilton, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a Chocolate company. Our clients vary, mostly female, 85% aged 30-65 years old.

Tell us about yourself

I wanted to impact society positively, and I was in the food industry. Chocolate was the perfect fit. I like to solve problems and create value; I also love working with people and creating experiences.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I stayed in business during COVID-19 and pivoted my existing business into a completely different model with no capital quickly.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Being responsible for the decisions that don't work and paying the price for them. And to keep making decisions and being ok with them failing.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Do something that you enjoy (not just for the money).

Look at the numbers and don't decide with your emotions.

Stay nimble and feel comfortable with changing and adapting at any time.
