What's your business, and who are your customers?
Chiavene Custom Creations is a local business in Mt. Washington, Kentucky, and surrounding communities, as well as online throughout the United States. When you shop at C3, you will find a large variety of items for all ages, from games to glassware, with customizable options. You can get yourself a decal, your mom a tea towel, your dad a beer mug, your child a Tic Tac Toe travel game, and more! At C3, a Custom Creation is Forever!
Tell us about yourself
I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. It's in my blood really, learning from my grandpa, who was a woodshop teacher, and my grandma as well. Participating in 4-H and FFA as a kid. And learning even more from my husband now. C3 began in my guest bedroom, stocking up on supplies and ideas. With emotions of excitement and fear, I began building a cubical storage unit, french cleat wall storage, and crafting cabinet to store all of these supplies. I started with campfire mugs and potholders. Learning about vinyl and HTV along the way and watching lots of videos. My husband had to really give me that final push to open my shop. Felt good when I did. It's a lot of work, both physically and mentally, but I really do enjoy it! I love that my husband and son help sometimes. They keep me going and make it fun! I've been adding in new items, such as decals, and working on revamping my website. And sublimation products are coming soon! It's going to be a great 2023!!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
C3's biggest accomplishment is taking the leap to branch out to not only sell online but also participate in craft shows with a 2023 goal of expanding the business. I really love the personal interaction we get with the craft shows and getting to connect with more people. And hope to expand with more personalization options at the 2023 craft shows. #goals
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is trying to find that happy medium of balancing a full-time job, family, and C3. One can wear so many hats within a family, but then within a small business, you wear multiple hats, such as builder/crafter, website developer, social media manager, shipper, etc. Just remember why you started and where you're headed. Think of how great it will be to get to the other side and keep going!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Research! Research! Research! One can never fully prepare themselves ahead of time, but doing research prior will help you to navigate through this new journey you are about to begin. Google will be your friend! Join some Facebook Groups! Ask questions! Make sure that whatever journey you do decide to take, you are doing what you really enjoy so you can make it through the rollercoaster to the end.
