What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Gut Health Agency is an agency of gut health professionals working to help you feel better fast through the magic combination of gut health and the abundance mindset. This is not a diet or quick fix. The Gut Health Agency is the first of its kind to combine both clinical diagnoses with health & lifestyle coaching for increased patient compliance and real results - that last. This is an opportunity to get the REAL support you need to get to the root cause of your health issues and to create lasting and real habit change in your life - once and for all. Registered dietitians work with you on an intimate and clinical level to address gut dysbiosis, infection, parasites, or bacterial overgrowth that may be contributing to your anxiety, brain fog, acid reflux, bloat, constipation, autoimmune disease, and more. In-house health coaches work with you on mindset and habit change so that follow-through actually becomes easy and change becomes joyful - something that the subconscious mind is not typically accustomed to. Join us at the Gut Health Agency for a concierge healing experience that is different than anything you have experienced before. What makes us different is the magic combination of clinical care combined with health coaching - all rooted in deep intuition, internal guidance, empathy, and curious compassion.
Tell us about yourself
My personal journey began with a diagnosis of autoimmune disease in college. I was sick and tired of being pushed off and gaslit by medical professionals - so I sought my own help in the form of a health coach - back in 2009 when health coaching was not a well-known career. It took another decade of seeking answers, asking questions, and educating myself both formally in credentials as well as informally in life experiences to finally get to a place where I felt like I had my symptoms under control - without the need for harsh pharmaceutical medications. We are pro-medicine in my practice, and we help you dig deeper to understand what is causing your symptoms in the first place. Bandaid fixes are no longer an option, and we are here to help you advocate for your own health in a way that we have never felt safe to do so before. These pillars come from my own personal story of frustration and fear after years of trying to find solutions. Hearing the success stories of my clients and the life-changing results of no longer experiencing daily debilitating GI symptoms combined with providing jobs for other health professionals is what keeps me going on a daily.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Walking the walk that I talk. I only work 4 hours per day and four days per week. This was my top PERSONAL goal (in addition to my professional goals for the business.) I find this to be a huge accomplishment in a society that praises the grind and promotes burnout as something to reward. I promised myself as an entrepreneur that I would never perpetuate the "hustle and grind" culture that we live in - and from the balcony of my beach condo in Central America - I can honestly say that I have lived up to that promise.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The fear of disappointment. As empathic beings, we want to see everyone succeed, including both our clients and our colleagues - personally, professionally, spiritually, and emotionally. Ultimately, showing up every day knowing that I have done the best that I can to lead and support from a place of integrity - and remembering that people have to choose their own path in life - is what it is all about. When a new idea, system, employee, or client doesn't work out the way you anticipated - it can feel like a failure. Though, of course, we know that failure doesn't actually exist because we can learn something from everything in life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Remember that you're in it for the long haul. Overnight successes are typically years in the making.
- Outsource and hire out before you think you're ready (the time you gain is invaluable.)
- Keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter what. Sometimes it will be a side-step; somethings, it will feel like a dance because it will be so all over the place. What matters is that you keep moving.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It's an honor to share and serve. I feel blessed that I've been through some tragic experiences early in life, including bankruptcy, home repossession, divorce, alcoholism, and suicide, that have led me to opt-in for an abundance mindset and unique perspective on life. I'm grateful to share where I'm at now and to be able to help others on the journey.
