Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Oscar Lippe, chef-owner of Chef Lippe, located in Vero Beach, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business rotates around sourcing cheeses both domestically and from all over the world and aging them to their prime before offering them to my clients. Secondarily I offer Jamon and other high-end charcuterie from Spain, Italy, and America and antipasto and other gourmet products. We have a healthy community of clients who support our efforts because of our unwavering and uncompromising focus on quality.
Tell us about yourself
Knowing who makes your food where it comes from is very important. In this globalized, beyond fast, beyond the immediate trans-modified world, it is nice to know the food we eat has been made by hand following time-honored methods handed down from generation to generation.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Bringing culture and information to our patrons, the history of the products we represent, their heritage spanning generations, and their legacy into the future.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is never losing sight of your goals. Although you have a hundred things coming at you from all directions, you have to be able to juggle all the balls in the air without dropping them.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Always believe in your dreams, never quit, although at times you might feel overwhelmed and alone, never give up. Every time you stumble or fall, find the inner strength to get up and keep going. Don't let anybody tell you differently.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
In the end, The buck stops with you. You are ultimately responsible for making your dreams come true. So believe in them and push forward.
