Savory Middle Eastern Restaurant - Chef Abod Cafe & Catering
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Abdulkader Sadieh, owner of Chef Abod Cafe & Catering, located in Halifax, NS, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Chef Abod Cafe, we believe that an earthly family is an earlier heaven. From the moment a guest enters our doors to the moment they leave, we want them to experience a little piece of heaven through our food. Here at Chef Abod Cafe, we create an experience. One that welcomes everyone regardless of who they are or what they look like.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in Canada for just over two decades, but I try to create dishes that people will remember for a lifetime. I've always loved to cook and have been doing so for my entire life. Coming into the restaurant every day and seeing the looks on people's faces while enjoying our food motivates me to create new dishes.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to provide our lovely customers with healthy food that they enjoy daily. No award or accolade can ever top that.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part about being a business owner is being able to balance home and work life. It's important to allow yourself to have good times and not let the business take you away from your family.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't run a business that you have no knowledge about. e.g., I can't be a chef and run a computer business.
- Be patient, be patient, be patient.
- Don't try to do everything yourself. You have to be able to assign tasks to others so you won't burn out quickly.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
At this time, it's really hard to succeed in your business if you don't know everything that happens in the business.
