What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is an online platform that offers courses in meditation, Reiki, and Functional Medicine.
Tell us about yourself
I am a physician with 18 years of experience in medical practice. I am also a Reiki Healer and have been using this healing modality for 7 years. I noticed that no one was making the connection between medical illnesses and the mind-body connection. I created my business to bridge the gap to help people understand their bodies better and offer alternative healing remedies.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is continuing to grow my business while running a busy medical practice. It has been difficult, but being a business owner has helped me become a better physician.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I find it difficult to know where I should place my attention at any one time. There are so many moving parts in a business it's hard to know where to focus.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't be afraid of failure. I have failed multiple times in the creation of my content and products. The failures did much less damage than I imagined, and I typically learn from them.
- Be patient. I have been working on building my business for a few years. The growth is slow, but it is happening.
- Share with people what you're doing. I found that people are much more supportive than I imagined.
