Stylist, Designer, and Personal Shopper - Chaendra Gittens
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fashion but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chaendra Gittens, Owner of CVG Styling Services and Co-Founder of Revived Clothing & Designs, located in Mississauga, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Freelance Fashion Stylist, Designer, and Personal Shopper. I provide confidence and a newfound sense of self-love by educating my clients on their ideal wardrobe options and how to dress themselves to uncover their style potential. As a designer, I actually source and design my own clothing line, Revived Clothing & Designs, by upcycling thrift and vintage items that were previously discarded or forgotten. My clients range from those in the entertainment industry to everyday, hardworking professionals who see the value in looking their best to feel their best.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a lover of all things visually aspiring and unique! My love for fashion started in childhood, and as I grew up acting and dancing, my appreciation for being bold and expressing myself creatively only grew as the years went on. I'm constantly motivated by just knowing that there are so many people in this world every day who wake up unhappy with themselves because of societal noise, making them feel unattractive and unworthy. As someone who struggled all my life with self-esteem issues and a distorted self-image, I've made it my duty to uplift others by showing them just how great they can feel with a few upgrades and knowledge on what works specifically for them.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has, thus far, been being internationally published in multiple magazines. However, the lives I've been told that I've positively affected with what I do are priceless. When clients send me letters after our sessions telling me how excited they are to head out and be seen the next day, it's really fulfilling!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing, I would say, is getting out of your own way and taking the first step to get started. When you are starting anything, you never feel like you're prepared enough or that people will really want to buy your product, but that's all just anxiety and fear. Once you pass that hurdle, you can truly surprise yourself!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ignore the thoughts of self-doubt.
- Stay consistent.
- Truly love what you do and believe in it (be your own biggest fan!)
