What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an intuitive guide and Reiki Master. I work with clients worldwide now as we have become so comfortable with zoom and Face time. I explain that I am not there to show them their future but to be an extra light while they do the work required in the present. I teach the four levels of the traditional Usui Reiki as well as provide group energy classes which are incredible to be a part of. I am humbled to now be mentoring others as they trust their own intuitive gifts as well as support those who are in my monthly membership.
Tell us about yourself
I received my degree in Child and Youth Care, and I have worked for over 20 years with children and families, but close to 10 years ago, I began training in Energy work and coming home to my true self. I am a single mom of 2 beautiful boys. I was working all day and would come home at night to these small little boys- they are motivated. I would be filled with this sense of complete calm and love when I focused on energy work. I followed it. I began to practice with other people whenever I could, and I built this business from nothing. I would work the two jobs for close two seven years like this. People would tell me stories of how their lives were changing, how they felt better after our sessions, how they had left jobs, trusted love or moved, etc. I knew I was doing my soul work. When the time was right, I would be able to leave my "career" for this.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment was the day I trusted myself fully and left my career for this. It was the scariest move for me to make as it meant leaving stability. The moment I fully trusted myself, this business flourished. I have been able to focus on it 100 percent and put give it to my clients completely.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having boundaries. There will always be work, and because I am passionate about it, I will always want to put more in. So knowing when to turn it off and say I am off.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- There is no rush. What is meant for you will find you, so take your time digging in a bit to what you love.
- Be authentic with what you are doing. People connect with someone who is invested in and real. Your business does not have to be flashy and fancy at the beginning; simply real.
- Pay for the support! It is often a better investment to pay out for some help than trying to sort out all the problems by yourself.
