What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have several businesses and that include the following:

  • Catering Works
  • Bloom Works
  • Ellas popcorn
  • Figs Market online
  • NCMA

We serve corporations and the private sector. We offer full-service special event planning and drop-off catering, florals and decor, as well as floral delivery, chef-prepared meals, corporate gifting, e-commerce, and retail popcorn trios.

Tell us about yourself

I started in 1989. My motivation is the passion and sense of accomplishment in creating memorable experiences with food, flowers, and exceptional service. I'm motivated by my team and customers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting through COVID.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's hard to turn off and recharge when you operate for 7 days.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. I would say to make sure you have a clear vision plan and business plan.
  2. Have enough capital to get through the first few years.
  3. Don't underestimate the value of hiring professionals for things you don't know anything about. Surround yourself with a good team.
