Quit Diets + Gain Confidence - Cassie Black Nutrition
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cassady Black, Owner of Cassie Black Nutrition, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a service-based business that helps women lose fat sustainably in a way that feels good and actually works for them even when they've tried "everything," and nothing ever has. My approach is centered around blood sugar balance and metabolism health so that fat loss can happen in a more efficient way. This means that clients can see long-term results without having to try so hard or feel miserable in the process. The real value is that clients get to experience increased confidence, peace around food, and a renewed sense of zest for life.
Tell us about yourself
I was obese for most of my childhood until I lost about 60 lbs in high school. I didn't realize it at the time, but I didn't lose weight in the healthiest way, and the approach was definitely not sustainable. I gained some of the weight back in college and started a long, frustrating journey to achieve results that didn't require 1200-calorie diets, restriction, excessive exercise, or sacrificing life experiences. It took lots of research, trial & error, 2 degrees in dietetics, and 1200 hours of supervised practice, but I finally figured it out.
I became a registered dietitian along the way and knew I didn't want to do anything else besides help women avoid the struggle that I had felt for so long. I learned that life is so much sweeter when you aren't worried about food or your body. Helping other women experience life that's uninhibited by food obsession and discomfort in their bodies is what drives me each day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is having the privilege of helping over 200 women feel comfortable and confident in their bodies without sacrificing the things that bring them the most joy in life. The best part about that is I get to watch their smiles transform into mega-watt, genuinely happy smiles.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The highs and lows, for sure. As a small business owner, everything feels so personal, which makes experiencing the highs very joyful and the lows pretty painful.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- invest in your business if you want it to be successful. I invested in a business coach before I had even one client, and I don't think I'd be in business today if I had not taken that leap of faith.
- Nurture your mindset. You CAN do it, and you ARE good enough, but unless you actually believe those things, very little is possible.
- Trust your gut. I read once that successful business owners say that most of the decisions they regret are the ones they listened to someone else's opinion on instead of their gut. As someone who has experienced this a couple of times myself, I can back that. Your gut is very rarely (if ever) wrong.
