Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Carrie Power, owner of Currahee Women’s Wellness, LLC, located in Toccoa, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Currahee Women’s Wellness, LLC is a boutique, one-on-one wellness service providing care to women across the aging spectrum with a niché pelvic health focus. Our clients range from high school athletes and prenatal and postpartum women to women hoping to build bone density and more resilient balance tolerance to age well.
Tell us about yourself
My business is a dream come true, honestly! I have fifteen years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Eleven of those years were spent honing my skills in treating CrossFit Athletes, Runners, and patients with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. My passion for serving women who experience some version of pelvic floor dysfunction in their lifetime began from seeing the lack of resources, education, and providers who were able to translate pelvic floor exercises to each woman’s specific level of demand.
My motivation comes from God. He’s given me a purpose and a gift as a means to serve others. My husband is incredibly supportive and encourages me every step of the way to provide top-notch care to every client on my path. Seeing women progress from the very basics of deep core activation and breath work to running, lifting, and competing at a high level lights me up!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Opening a small business via space lease, seeing the success of clients, and keeping our doors open for nearly a year has been huge accomplishment! Beyond that, we’ve recently purchased our very own brick-and-mortar to expand into. This new space and brand will be called The Currahee Movement Collective, LLC. This space will house a variety of health, movement, and wellness businesses to meet the needs of our community. CrossFit Currahee, Currahee Women’s Wellness, CMC Physical Therapy, and Blue Hills Natural Health currently make up The Currahee Movement Collective. We cannot wait to see what the future holds!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Boundary setting. Whether it be with time management, discounted services, partnerships that don’t add value to your brand, or client journey, saying no is tough! This has been one of the greatest difficulties of owning a business. It’s tough to turn off the constant stream of ideas, requests, to-dos, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Identify a need your skill set can meet.
- Remember, YOU are the magic in your business — the market isn’t over-saturated.
- Imagine what could go right and GO FOR IT!!
