What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is AlignBelieveCreate On-purpose Coaching, and my brand is The Goddess Way. I help transformational leaders create a soul-centered business with high-end offers as their foundation, so they get to do their deepest level soul work with clients who are ready for it and get paid in a way that supports the lifestyle they deserve.
Tell us about yourself
As an 'accidental' entrepreneur for the past 17 years, I started my own business after hearing over and over that I was overqualified for any job I applied for. I had left my job of 18 years where I was the 'creative' in a global educational organization that specializes in creativity. Hearing the same thing over and over, being rejected for being too qualified, gave me pause. I did not recognize my own value, but when I reflected on what I was doing for other people, it was pretty amazing that I could rise to any occasion and that I not only had many high-level skills, I was a problem solver and I got the job done.
I realized not many people have as many talents and capabilities and that I was undervaluing them because they came so easily to me. My 'stand' since then has been to empower women to claim their own value. My mission is to help them get their gifts into the world in a big way, helping them not only to create and do what it takes to position their leadership but to empower them with a confident and winning mindset that they are more than enough and they should charge accordingly!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Making $111,000 in my very first year in business. Once I did hang my 'open for business' sign, I became in demand for my creative services. My business has shifted since then, but being that successful just by showing up and doing what came naturally to me - along with great customer service - showed me the possibilities.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Haters. People who are envious, especially when you're in a realm they don't understand. You've really got to put the blinders on, know who you're here to serve, and get visible so they can find you - and then get busy serving!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Success takes time, so don't stop '3 feet from the gold.' Shiny bright object syndrome is the biggest killer of success, so be careful about jumping from one thing to another too fast. You really can't buy your way to success.
- Take 100% responsibility for your results. Stay in your lane and take aligned action every day, even if it's a baby step. Don't get 'duped' into living someone else's dream.
- Don't compete on price. Get clear on the value and level of transformation you provide, and charge your 'worth.' Your clients are here, and they will pay what you ask.
