Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cara Chace, a Productivity and Business Mentor, based in North Idaho, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help overwhelmed entrepreneurs focus on doing the right things to grow their businesses in less time, so they can meet their goals and still have a life.
Tell us about yourself
I am a productivity and business mentor and the creator of the Theme Day Planning Method. I live my passion: showing women how to navigate life priorities while building a business they love. I've been balancing my aversion to rules and bosses with the need for structure since 2013 when I had my first child and took on the role of social media manager for Megadeth and their 13 million online fans. After realizing being a work-from-home entrepreneur was the best fit for my life, I built a digital marketing agency from scratch, had another kid, navigated constantly shifting priorities, moving houses, and life demands... and made it my mission to Work Better and Live Well.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a profitable business from scratch while working half days as a mom and putting myself and my family first.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
There are 50 million things you COULD do to build your business, but often small business owners get overwhelmed and stuck trying to figure out the RIGHT way to build a business for them, their lives, and their priorities. Business is not one-size-fits-all.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Keep your marketing and your offers as simple as you can. Overcomplicated funnels end up sucking your resources and effort dry.
- Trust yourself. You know your personality, values, and priorities better than any online guru. Build a business based on the life you want to live, not the other way around.
- Find like-minded peers that can be a second set of eyes for you. Running a business from home can be lonely and lead to second-guessing yourself constantly.
