Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rachel Johnson, Owner of Cannabis Boost Business Plans, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a Los Angeles native, and I created Boost Business Plans. I bring over 21 years of experience in various industries in the finance world. I have consulted entrepreneurs, entertainment entities, and private estates and have personally written over 100 business plans and proposals. On behalf of my clients, I have helped attain funding from SBA lending, grants, angel investors, venture capitalists, and more. I specialize in assisting many clients in preparing for and winning city, state, or county licenses to operate a legal Cannabis business nationwide.
Tell us about yourself
I started in the finance world as a finance controller in various industries, including entertainment, television, film production, and commercial real estate. I then started writing business plans for EB-5 and L1 investments. At the same time, I met a colleague that introduced me to writing business plans for Cannabis license applications and has stayed in the legal Cannabis space ever since. I enjoy writing for Cannabis entities, as it's an ever-changing world of new rules and regulations state by state.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is writing several countless business plans and financial pro formas that have assisted in winning multiple licenses across the country and in Canada.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is that you have to work on vacations and holidays if needed. However, one advantage is that you can work while traveling!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Specialize in a niche market.
- Always be aware of news and happenings in your specialized industry every day.
- Always have control of the final product that you offer clients, especially if you have a crew working with you. At the end of the day, YOU are responsible for the end product.
