What's your business, and who are your customers?

Candles and Supplies help artisans and indie businesses create professional-quality candles, soaps, and natural skincare products. Our customers are candle makers, soap makers, herbalists, gardeners, natural healers, artists, and more.

Tell us about yourself

I have always loved candles and was disappointed by the quality of candle-making supplies offered at big box craft stores. I want to help the world have fun and make great quality products and support them in starting their own businesses. Our customers motivate me day to day with their creativity and ingenuity. I feel blessed to be surrounded by so many people all doing different things with the products we sell.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Tenacity - keeping things going when times get rough. Life and business throw so many obstacles to navigate, and there's always something new. I take them on as personal challenges now instead of getting upset.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not taking situations personally for me. I infuse my blood, sweat, tears, and soul into my business every day, and it can get lonely when unexpecting things happen.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always dream and never lose sight of your dreams.
  2. Ask for help - don't expect to know or have all of the answers. There are plenty of top experts in each field to help you along your journey.
  3. Expect to work harder and longer than you ever have. You are building yourself, so give it all your effort.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Most importantly - have fun and enjoy the journey! Create your own perfect job for yourself, have fun and be passionate about your work.
