Look and Feel Your Personal Best - Camille LaShea Aesthetics
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Camille Summers, owner of Camille LaShea Aesthetics LLC., located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have an aesthetic services business where I provide eyelash extension, full-body waxing, and facial/skin care services. My clients tend to be men and women of all age ranges with different skin types. For lashes, my clients tend to be, again, of all ages, races, and genders!
Tell us about yourself
I initially went to school to be an aesthetician so that I could eventually work for myself. I was a new mother, and I knew that I wanted to be able to be home with my son as much as possible, so I came up with a five-year plan and chose a career that I felt I would love. My son is my number one motivation, and my second motivation is my clients and how I’m able to make them feel good about themselves mentally and physically. It brings me such joy when someone feels good about themselves and how they look. I’m also motivated by being able to provide top-notch services and reliability with luxury to my clients.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is becoming a business owner. I went from being an employee and having to work for someone else to being the owner and being more flexible with my clients because I know what it’s like from the employee and business sides. I love that I can set my own time limit for services and give a more customized experience versus a bottom-line experience. It’s not about the money; it’s about the smile and relationships I build with my clients.
Being able to say that I’ve served clients for eight years is such a blessing. People who have been with me since I started! Being able to be a good example and role model to my son is also a beautiful experience that I did not anticipate coming with being a business owner. He’s so inspired and excited to have his own business one day!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part of being a business owner is work-life balance. Finding systems to put in place, so you’re not working around the clock. Being a business owner does require a type of hustle and grind at different points, depending on your goals. Keeping goals can also be challenging when you are running a business because you have many things to consider and many hats to wear.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don’t compare yourself to where other people are right now versus where you are right now.
- Be patient with yourself and speak kindly to yourself. Think outside the box and be sure to read as much as possible, and continue your education! Staying current in your industry is imperative!
- Stay open-minded
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I think that if you’re considering being an entrepreneur or a business owner, you’re already ahead of the game. Don’t be discouraged by all the hard work it takes because there is a difference between an employee mindset and a business owner's mindset!
