Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in handcrafts but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Caitlin Sikora, Founder of Real Swanky, located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm Caitlin of Real Swanky! My customers are often those who approach life tongue-in-cheek with a "do no harm, take no shit" mindset.

Tell us about yourself

Caitlin, here. Some kinda 33-year-old, tea-sippin' dame, forever thrifting. Coupon queen, lovingly helicopter parenting two strange bunnies in a wee livin' hole. Milking almonds since the '90s. Quality work, entirely vegan/cruelty-free + darling packaging from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, with love.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to have my work carried in shops across Canada, America, and beyond! I also adore each and every custom order I get. Knowing someone wants to see my art on a daily in their home really makes my liver quiver.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Adjusting to inflation, even at thrift shops! 🥵

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be happy with your branding.
  2. Create authentically.
  3. Keep some time for yourself, and recharge that battery!!
