What's your business, and who are your customers?
Burgess Brothers Restaurants & Hospitality. Inspired by history and powered by excellence. Our customers include but are not limited to Retail customers, theme parks, arenas, ballparks, universities, restaurants, healthcare, and local government.
Tell us about yourself
I have a twin brother who works with me, and our parents inspired us. Knowing our rich history in the State of California, which began in Virginia, was instrumental. We are motivated by our history and leaving a legacy for the next generation.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Figuring out the recipe and packaging of our grandmother's cornbread mix that has and will become a national brand and all-time favorite.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about becoming a business owner is building the business to a point in which it is sustainable and provides opportunities for others.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get a Mentor that is capable of helping.
- Position yourself for the opportunity, which means you could be volunteering just to learn.
- When your opportunity presents itself, if you don't have the knowledge to be successful, find someone that does.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
My brother and I have used these principles in our business and this acronym to help you remember the steps for a successful business. Knowledge, position, opportunity, and power. KPOP!
