Startups Shaping the Next Generation - bulletpitch
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in content creation but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sam Segal & Brett Perlmutter, Founders of bulletpitch, located in Middlebury, VT, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
bulletpitch is a free newsletter that covers high-potential startups shaping the next generation. Once a week, we share a 1-minute summary and diligence on a new startup with thousands of investors, founders, business students, and startup enthusiasts.
Tell us about yourself
Brett and I met at Middlebury College after connecting over our shared love for startups. After numerous hour-long conversations about early, high-potential startups, we kept coming back to the fact that the startups we were interested in (i.e., raising early rounds, finding product-market fit) were seldom covered in media. Startups are typically covered after they raise a significant round or are founded by a repeat founder. This, coupled with our desire for more concise media content, led us to start bulletpitch. We are motivated by countless conversations with individuals disrupting industries and helping founders share their stories and products, early users find new products, students explore different career paths, and investors find their next deal.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment is growing our subscriber base to several thousand subscribers with little social media push.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Keeping up with the product, growth, social channels, admin, and tech, all while having a full course load in college and extracurricular responsibilities.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you'd work on your product for free, you're in the right business.
- Lean into the people who see your vision and learn from the skeptics.
- Perfection doesn't exist.
