Build your confidence through fitness - LGN Fitness
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kat Coutu, owner and fitness coach of LGN Fitness, located in Toronto, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business as a fitness coach is to inspire and build confidence in women. I mostly work with women clients who are new to working out or strength training and need guidance to help them develop great healthy fitness habits to achieve their goals and maintain them.
Tell us about yourself
Fitness has always been a passion of mine. So when I was in school studying, I was spending all my free time in the gym learning everything I could. From exercises to healthy eating and habits. After almost 2 years of not enjoying the courses that I had taken. I decided to follow my passion and pursue fitness. And oh man, am I so happy that I did! Waking up every day to help other people make their lives healthier and happier motivates me. I love seeing all my clients develop more confidence as they reach their fitness goals. It transforms them not only physically but also mentally as well, which is what I love about this business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’d have to say my biggest accomplishment was starting from absolute scratch. Most people in this industry will work for a gym or business to build a reputation and clients. But when I started, I wanted a fresh and clean approach. So I went at it alone and built my reputation and clients from the ground up.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I would say that at the beginning, you are always on. Working every day and at all hours. There isn’t much of a 9-5 schedule. But after some time of building a business, you can start to implement a better routine that works for you. And it is totally worth becoming an entrepreneur.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just get started. If you are hesitant, you can start with just a little bit. Maybe it’s a side hustle or something you can do part-time 'till you build it up.
- Even if you have a setback, stay positive, don’t give up. Being an entrepreneur and owning a business, you always have to anticipate things and just be prepared for them.
- Follow your intuition and gut. This will always allow you to make the right business decisions.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Starting and running a business takes time and patience. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Some things just take time. Learn from your mistakes and use them to make better future decisions.
