What's your business, and who are your customers?
Budgeat is an innovative food technology company with an exciting new mobile application for consumers. We’re focused on helping individuals eat better, save money, and waste less while cooking and eating at home. Our company’s groundbreaking app generates personalized meal plans from a vast library of recipes that consider an individual’s budgetary, dietary, taste, and cooking preferences. Plus, it takes into account the ingredients people already have on hand, ensuring that nothing goes to waste in the kitchen. Budgeat even generates easy to use grocery lists to make the shopping experience a breeze. By combining all these features in an intelligent manner we aim to leverage technology to meaningfully improve the experience of anyone who cooks and eats at home.
Tell us about yourself
Having worked in the hospitality industry for several years, I aspired to develop an app that could assist our members in minimizing food waste, adhering to a budget, and consuming healthier and more diverse meals at home. We understand that the proper planning of meals and the ability to effectively utilize available ingredients are crucial in reducing cooking time, associated food costs, and overall food waste. By adopting the practices of restaurants and providing a solution that caters to the needs of our customers, we are aiming to make a positive impact on their lives and the environment. The satisfaction of knowing that we are creating a solution that can enhance people's lives and contribute towards a sustainable future is a driving force that motivates me each day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been turning a vision into reality and executing the vision in collaboration with a great team.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things as a business owner is not ever knowing what will happen next, as everything changes so fast. Within the past several years, we have experienced a pandemic, a war, and high inflation rates, which as business owners, we have to learn to adapt to and ensure we plan accordingly to enable us to succeed in the changing market.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you are looking to start a business, make sure you are passionate about your concept and that you truly believe in it, as the road ahead will be full of obstacles.
- It will be very exciting when your idea starts to become a reality, but always make sure you are planning ahead; even if you think it's too early for something, plan for it and even set it up.
- As you grow, always remember where you came from and why you started your business, stay humble, and don't let success cloud your path.
