What's your business, and who are your customers?
Retro Game Treasure is a Monthly Subscription box where you get Video Games every month! Every month you will receive 3-5 Retro Games based on your preferences & likes. We build your Treasure Chest that way so that you'll get new games you like for only the Consoles that you own! You even tell us what games you have to avoid duplicates too! Our Customers are anyone wanting to start collecting retro video games, expand their collection, or re-start collecting again!
Tell us about yourself
The year was 1985; a young boy played his first video game, "Excitebike" in a dimly lit arcade. A love for video games was born and continues to grow! Now we want to bring it to you! 30+ years of experience in gaming, going back to the good 'ol Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). From saving up lunch money to buy the newest SNES game to renting games from Blockbuster every weekend, we've been around the block when it comes to playing and collecting Retro Games. I still love video games, especially retro, and it excites me to help collectors expand on their collections!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing to the size where we have our own warehouse space and are self-sustainable was a great feeling! It took years to get there, and now it feels like things run so much more smoothly. Getting through the covid surge for mail order business felt great too! We saw a 25% growth in less than six months once everyone was stuck at home, and this was after we had already been in business for six years!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Daily decision-making that nobody can anticipate for you. We just want to sell our boxes of games, but I had to learn about shipping rates, box dimensions, printing prices, tax collection, lost packages, credit card fraud, software setup & integration... the list goes on and on!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't be thrown by the unexpected. Take each challenge one at a time.
- You might have to work harder, but that's what you signed up for.
- Don't put things off! You're busy, but no one is ever as busy as they like to think they are. Put in the extra time to take care of it.
