What's your business, and who are your customers?
At BNB, we make all-natural beard products. Our customers are typically bearded men and women purchasing products for men.
Tell us about yourself
Before I started BNB, I was a chef for almost 20 years. While I was serving in the military, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and forced to retire. I now have 3 amazing kiddos that I stay home with and take care of. I really needed something else to help keep me balanced. That’s when I started BNB. It motivates me because, as a disabled veteran, I want to show others that even though you have a disability, it shouldn’t stop you from living your life. I’ve always tried to push forward regardless of some of the obstacles that were put in front of me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Not giving up! Sometimes being a business owner is really stressful. There have been multiple times that I felt like stopping because it was too much. It’s better to push through that and have a positive attitude.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is second-guessing yourself. Over the years, I’ve learned to stay true to my decisions.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- I would say to start small and simple. You can always add or change things as your business starts to progress.
- Networking is also a big one. To get your name out there, you need to network and collaborate with other people and businesses.
- Listen to feedback from customers. It’s important to at least try and see it from their point of view. Good customer service goes a long way with people.
