What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a dedicated, licensed cosmetologist and salon owner in Del City. We offer classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume lash extensions. Our service list includes lash extensions (top & bottom), lash lifts, lash & brow tint, brow lamination, waxing (face only), and professional makeup. We also have mink strip lash kits available. Our clients range from everyday women to high glam women.
Tell us about yourself
I decided to start my own business because I hated having a boss and not having enough satisfaction from my job. I have a lot of self-motivation, so I have my own way of getting things done with no supervision. Being able to set my own schedule and making my clients feel beautiful motivates me to be better at what I do daily.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was surviving the pandemic. It wasn’t easy with closures and the infected, but we never missed a beat. I honestly believe it set the stage for even bigger accomplishments in the future for my business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is not having a boss. Even though that’s the reason I started my business, it’s not for the weak. You don’t have anyone making sure you complete tasks or having the work there for you to do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My first tip for anyone starting or running a business is to start with a plan and stick to it. The second tip would be to build a solid, reliable team. The third tip is never to stop learning. Our world is changing before our eyes, so your business will need to keep up.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
People usually think becoming a business owner means less work, but it’s the complete opposite. The owner is never off the clock.
