Your Wedding Deserves a Great Video - Briday

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Richard Mugwaneza, Founder of Briday, located in Montréal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is Briday; we specialize in creating timeless and highly detailed wedding videos for engaged couples in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. Our goal is to ensure that their special day is captured in a way that will allow them to relive the memories for many years to come.

Tell us about yourself

I am a visionary and experienced film director with over 15 years of experience in the industry. My passion for storytelling and capturing life's most precious moments led me to start my own business as a wedding videographer. I saw an opportunity to bring my unique perspective and technical expertise to the world of wedding videography. I have been delivering beautiful, high-quality films to clients in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. My entrepreneurial mindset allows me to think outside of the box, always looking for new and creative ways to capture the unique story of each couple's special day.

In addition to creating beautiful wedding films, I also see my business as a way to help build and strengthen families and homes. I believe that future generations will treasure the memories captured in these films, and the thought of being able to play a small role in creating those lasting memories motivates me to continue growing my business and expanding my reach.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2020, I produced a 10-episode web series about a couple in Montreal, which received over 300,000 views. In 2022, my team and I created 98 wedding videos. We have finally developed a Netflix-like delivery method so our clients can binge their wedding in all its details.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

A business owner must be many things at once. The majority of us are not qualified to do so. I had to learn everything from my own service/product design to acquiring customers, assisting customers after delivery, sales, and developing ideas to generate more revenue. Before hiring others, a business owner must understand every aspect of the operation. That has been the most difficult part for me. Being everything, everywhere, all at once:) But, three years down the road, we're getting there.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, Resilience. Things will not go as planned. The entrepreneur's superpower is to take the punches like a champ and rise again.

Second, Involving Others. An entrepreneur is like a parent who just gave birth to a baby and can raise the baby but still gives the baby up for adoption.

Technology is your friend. The tech has evolved so much that almost every idea and challenge has a tech-related solution. Before giving away your hard-earned cash to consultants and agencies, ask google. I was surprised by how much technology streamlined my business.
