Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brianna Hosack, owner, and creator of The Calm-Inspired Mama, located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Parenting & Productivity/Goal-Achieving Coach for work from home Mama entrepreneurs who want to reclaim their work-life balance. Re-discover the joy of motherhood while being the powerhouse CEO of their business.

Tell us about yourself

My journey has been long & winding, but I started out because I knew that 1) I had a lack of fear around telling my own story & a voice meant to be used & inspire people, and 2) I had overcome so much and learned so many tools that I could help other anxious, depressed, ADHD, angry, or simply overwhelmed Moms with. I knew their pain & struggle intimately & I wouldn't wish it on anyone and wanted to help as many women as I could to take back the reigns in their life, enjoy their motherhood journey, and be empowered/supported by their 'village' in having their own, other dreams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Each Mama that I am able to help bring relief to is not only a huge accomplishment for me, and helps increase my own strength and resilience in my own journey, but a brilliant light shining on my next step to bringing change to how moms are perceived, treated, and the expectations placed on them by themselves and others. I hope to have a ripple effect on the world far larger than just the moms I coach and the healing that takes place in their families.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Accepting the constant shifts and pivots to really be at the level I desire. Change is hard for anyone, and as a business owner, you really have to roll with the punches and not take no's to heart or criticism personally.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do NOT buy into the common belief that you have to invest big to earn big. There are so many free tips, tools, and resources out there. Dumping money can speed up the process, but it can also be an endless process. You are more likely to give up if you are so financially desperate that you can no longer take the pressure.
  2. No matter your industry/niche, find who it is that you LOVE to serve, and your passion for it will carry you through.
  3. Take time for yourself BEFORE anyone else, every day. As much time as you can spare. Fill your own cup so much that you are able to serve others only from the overflow that is on the saucer. Then, your tiniest actions will have a tremendous impact.
