Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bria Simpson, International Business Coach and Founder of The Simpson Business Program, located in Durham, NC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an international business coach with 20 years of experience. My clients have established business owners with at least two years of experience who have revenues from $120,000 to 7 million. They typically want to scale more but are overwhelmed and exhausted by their business. They often have their hand in too many areas of the business but are afraid that if they don't manage so many parts of the business, it will fall apart.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a graduate of Duke University, mother of three grown children, former therapist, and business owner, and I have been a business coach for the past 20 years. What motivates me is helping entrepreneurs scale by helping them systematize their businesses and build better teams so they can reduce stress, reclaim their lives and live in balance. The deeper motivation is the joy I feel when they become happier, healthier people and are living their best lives!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been creating trainings to teach entrepreneurs step-by-step HOW to systematize and HOW to build and manage a high-performance team. These trainings, along with private coaching and monthly Masterminding calls with other like-minded entrepreneurs, are what sets me apart from other business coaches and create faster change for my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business coach is accepting that I can provide the training and various forms of coaching, but the client has to be willing to change some of their habits or mindsets. The successful ones are willing to do that. Those who are too set in their ways and not willing to change at all, I have to let go- and that makes me sad. They are keeping themselves stuck when there is another way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My tips are to growing an established service-based business are:
- Get some help to learn HOW to streamline and systematize your business so it runs more like a well-oiled machine. It's an imperative key to scaling.
- Ask any business coaches you interview some tough questions! Have they owned a business themselves? How many years of experience do they have with service-based businesses? Do they have real client testimonials? Can they answer your questions well?
- Know that all entrepreneurs need business coaches to scale well, feel supported, and decrease overwhelm. You are not alone. Try to share your vulnerabilities and fears with your coach- you reach your goals faster and become happier because of it.
