Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brenda Juarez, Founder of Bren J Life Coaching LLC, located in Loleta, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is a Mindset Life Coaching practice where my main customers are First to the Second generation Millennial Latinas without college degrees. More specifically, they may come from a single-parent home in an underserved community that wants to heal and break generational trauma cycles and may be leaning towards entrepreneurship in the future.
Tell us about yourself
I first got started in this business after having my first child during the beginning of the COVID pandemic and realizing my priorities were shifting, and old traumas were coming up. I am motivated each day by the realization that our journey toward greatness requires a lot of courage and strength, and every woman out there deserves to live the life she daydreams about.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been all the personal growth I've endured and, in turn, have used to help other mujeres who are just getting started down this path. It's amazing when someone can reach out and know they are not alone with their thoughts and experiences.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Consistency, life happens and does not stop when you aren't feeling well or are having a self-doubt or imposter syndrome relapse. Your mind has a way of tricking you into second-guessing and procrastinating sometimes, and remaining consistent during those trials and tribulations has been extremely difficult.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Tips for this looking to start, run and grow a business in today's world are:
- Just get started. "Small step, Big priority." It can seem like an overwhelming amount of stuff to do when starting any business, but keep the priority in mind and take a tiny step every day toward it.
- Work on yourself! Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually (if you are into that), and however else that helps you stay focused because failures are inevitable in any business at any stage, and if you are working on yourself, you will always make it through.
- Find yourself a like-minded community. It takes a village to raise a baby, and a business is pretty much a baby; you need to love it and put so much time and effort into raising it, and sometimes you are going to be exhausted, and that's where your community will jump in to help life your spirits.
