What's your business, and who are your customers?

I do hair and makeup here in Las Vegas. I specialize in wedding and event hair and makeup.

Tell us about yourself

I knew I was going to be a makeup artist at the age of five. My mom had her own personal artist. I was taken back every time by the transformation and how makeup really enhanced her natural beauty. I love my job. I feel blessed to have had this career for over 15 years. My clients always make my day. I love to see them look and feel their best and be able to walk into that event more confident than ever. Having professional hair and makeup makes people feel truly amazing. To see my clients feel their best and send me messages about how good they felt keeps me motivated every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is to touch people's lives in a positive way. I have trained many artists over the years. I still stay in touch with past clients and employees. I've always tried to help and make a positive impact by giving back in any way that I can.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is probably just being hard on myself and always telling myself I can do better. I don't always allow myself to celebrate my achievements or success. Always pushing myself to do more and be better.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I would say network. Build a community with people in the same industry. There's enough business for everyone. Lastly, don't worry about your competition; be your unique self. Your clients will come; you don't have to be like everyone else.
