Save the Hospitals by Serving the Nurses - Braving Wellness

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bryanna Reilly, Founder of Braving Wellness, located in Lowell, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Braving Wellness is a Nurse Coaching Business that supports nurses in prioritizing themselves so they can continue healing the world.

Tell us about yourself

It began with a subtle moment after a weekend of night shifts at the hospital when I realized I had created my entire life around serving others. Sacrificing myself to serve others felt safer than connecting with me and asking others for help.

At 26, I knew I couldn't maintain this for the rest of my lifetime, so I began my transformational journey. Through that, I learned the power we have to heal ourselves when in a supportive container. Honestly, driven by frustration and burnout, I turned my back on the healthcare system. I could no longer work within the constraints at the bedside. In September 2019, I left my ICU position in search of healing others in a deeper way; at that same time, I began my nurse coach certification.

After almost 18 months in business, I was connecting with more nurses going through similar experiences. Losing their passion in the field, self-sacrificing in every area of their life, and unable to find a realistic approach to taking care of themselves per the lifestyle of nursing. Today, I support nurses in 1:1 coaching and group containers to unlearn their self-sacrificing tendencies, create realistic self-care, and cultivate relationships that give back to them. I am motivated daily by the belief that shifting the healthcare system begins with shifting each nurse's internal systems.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment in business is directly related to my ability to go first in doing this work. This has allowed me to witness big accomplishments with my clients as they unlearn the narratives of self-sacrifice, show up for themselves daily, and surround themselves with supportive people; they are now able to exit survival mode. They are able to show up for their patients in deeper ways and use their voice for healthcare innovation. After all, nurses have been holding up the healthcare system for so long; it's about time our voices are heard.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is the daily decisions you make to support a vision that may not be tangible. It's a constant practice of deepening self-trust and self-belief in the vision in your heart.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get ready for healing any limiting beliefs of self-worth, abundance, and receiving.
  2. Find the lesson in the greatest challenge you've overcome and share that with the world.
  3. You are allowed to create the business around the life you desire selfishly.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Saying no to others to say yes to yourself is the best service you can do for the world.
