What's your business, and who are your customers?
BookBrooke is a digital freelancer offering creative business solutions to entrepreneurs and small businesses. I work with a variety of clients in all stages of business - from ideas, to planning, to optimizing or rebranding businesses already in operation.
Tell us about yourself
My career has been a huge part of my life - I have been working on my resume since I was 14 and have had the opportunity to work in a variety of industries where I learned new skills and polished the transferable ones. Following a recent neurodivergence diagnosis, after years of struggling to stay in one place and decide on a degree, I realized I would thrive best in a digital freelancing/self-employed business best as it allows me to be my authentic self, as well as accommodate my own needs while providing valuable services to my clients.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
This is my second business, and I am even more excited this time around because I gained so many new insights while operating Rhinestone Tiling - a residential tile repair and maintenance company. In addition to that, I launched an Etsy shop offering a Business Builder Template bundle which is a set of 20 fillable templates that will help you clarify the components of your business plan. It is a great tool for new entrepreneurs to work through while brainstorming a new idea for a product or service.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about owning a business or being self-employed is that you are the primary decision-maker. Things don't happen if you don't make moves. You also have to be disciplined enough to manage your time and resources efficiently while maintaining effective customer relations with clients and consumers.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research! There are many great tools for free that will help you identify target markets and trends in business. Use these to find a growing niche or room for opportunity and growth in an underdeveloped market.
- Build a network. The people you connect with will vouch for you and your ability to provide value and support as needed.
- If you have an idea, I recommend trying out some of my Etsy digital templates to start making moves toward turning your ideas and passion projects into wealth-building businesses.
