Build Your Platform & Market Your Book - Book Marketing Mania
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kim Stewart, Founder of Book Marketing Mania, located in Dallas, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m a Book Marketing coach and help nonfiction authors market their Christian Living books on podcasts.
Tell us about yourself
Back in 2014, I had the idea to write a faith-based book about my journey as a special needs mom. I attended my first writing conference and soaked up everything I could, but never wrote that book. I returned to the conference the next year and felt the call from God to pause on writing my own book and combine my past corporate marketing experience with my love for Christian nonfiction books to serve authors. I love everything about marketing and will talk to anyone about it—especially authors. They love writing words, not marketing them. I’m so passionate about helping them spread their God-given messages far and wide to help transform lives, especially through podcasting.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting my podcast, showing up consistently to serve my listeners, and hearing how my episodes are helping them market their books. It’s amazing that I can reach authors around the world and share book marketing and podcasting tips from my home behind a microphone.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Marketing and selling without feeling slimy. It’s so much easier for me to help others market their businesses. But I’ve found when you focus on how your products and services can truly help someone else and focus on serving over selling; it comes easier.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make relationship-building your priority with your target audience and industry peers.
- Find a mentor or business coach to guide you and save you time and money.
- Host a podcast or guest on others’ podcasts if your target audience listens to podcasts regularly. It’s a great way to build your business.
